- Vandalia, Missouri
- Jan 1996 – June 2000
- Remodel/Upgrade
- Hardware: GE 90/70
- Interface: Corsair Integrated Controls System
The Vandalia Facility produces firebrick to be used in power plants and iron ore smelting process. Corsair Controls has been involved with the dry batching control system since 1996. The PLC controlled batching systems allows this facility to produce large volumes of product. The PLC equipment and operator interfaces use an ethernet system over fiber optic and twisted pair communications networked to three (3) PLC’s and operator interfaces. The dry batching system includes serial communication to twelve (12) loss-in-weight feeders for batching by weight. The PLC’s control and track batching totes along a roller conveyor system transporting batching totes from station to station. The system also incorporates raw ingredient dry feeds from storage bins to holding bins batched by weight and then dropped onto conveyor belts to be transported to the appropriate batching tote station. The dry batching system can be operated from the control room with two (2) touch screen operator interfaces or one touch screen located on the batching floor. Corsair Controls Inc. responsibilities on the project includes system design, operator interface graphic design, manufacturing, supervision of installation, the PLC programming, project coordination with other trades, and complete point by point startup/troubleshooting.
